The Phantom of the Opera

 

     Today, I introduce sad love story. It is “The Phantom of the Opera”. It is famous story that has been made into a movie or stage. I knew the name and hole story. But I didn’t know last scene and who is the phantom. After reading it, I regret not having read it properly so far. I introduce interesting points with quotation.

 

‘I’m going to take you away, and marry you.’

     This is in the scene which Christine and Raoul kissed for the first time. It is one of the most romantic scenes in this book, but I was interested in this sentence. I think that this sentence is kind of death flag. Death flag means that he is definitely going to die by saying or doing specific things. For example, ‘If I get back, please get married.’ And when someone cornered by the enemy, he says ‘please help me, I will give you as much money as possible.’ In many stories, character who says these sentences has a high probability of dying. In “The Phantom of the Opera”, Raoul said death flag. Please pay attention to whether he really dies, or whether the common sense of the death flag is valid in this story.

 

‘You are free, Christine, free! Go away and marry your Raoul, and be happy.’

     This sentence is the scene which Christine kissed the phantom. I do not understand. The reason why the phantom forgives her is that she loved and kissed him. Then why she kissed the phantom? Because she wanted to help Raoul. When I read this scene, I think that Christine kissed the phantom to help Raoul helplessly. Her love is fake. Nevertheless, the phantom hasn’t been loved and don’t true love. To put it simply, I think that phantom was tricked by her. Christine kissed him not to love him but to help her lover. I think that she does not love the phantom. So, I don not understand this sentence. When I read the story from her perspective, I am happy to be released her, but when I read it from perspective of the phantom, he was poor to being deceived.

     In the first place, Christine want to be a good opera singer. And she met the phantom for some reason. She didn’t run away from feared him to make her dream come true. In this story, only phantom is considered to be terrifying, and of course he is terrifying because he kills people, but in fact she who even used him is terrifying too.

 

     In my opinion, it is best to see it in the video. Because, it is faster to see what kind of building the Opera House, which is the stage of this story, and how wonderful she is as a singer. In addition, speaking of the Phantom of the Opera, that music is impressive. It will be fun to actually hear that melody that you remember every time you see this title.

The Mystery of Allegra

     I read "The Mystery of Allegra". Allegra is an unusual name. It means 'happy' in Italian, but the little girl in this story is sometimes very sad. Adrian,'I', is an English boy and tries to help this poor girl. I'll introduce important points with quotation. She was looking at me with big eyes, as blue as Italian sky in summer. Her blond hair was as bright as sunlight round her pale face.         This sentences is when Adrian met Allegra for the first time. He visited Italy with his parents on Holiday. They stayed a villa and he slept in a room different from his parents. Then, in night he met her. The reason I like this sentences is that it uses metaphors and easy to imagine her looks. Especially, I like "big eyes, as blue as Italian sky in summer". I have never visited Italy, but I can imagine sunny Italian sky. Rain, Rain, Rain!

"I don't like the rain. And it's raining today." She think, "I don't want to go to school." School starts at 9 o'clock. Now it's 8:20! This story is a girl who is likely to be late for school. She is a hurry,  but she can't use her bicycle, train and bus by  some accident.   It wonders if she get to school in time. I admire to this girl because she go to school by bicycle in the rain. If I am her, I will ask for my parents to take me to school. In the rain, road is wet and the view is wrong. Also, it is important to listen to other's advice .

San Francisco

  This week, I read “San Francisco”. This book has ten chapters, and they introduce San Francisco’s weather, history, tourist spot and shops. Although every chapter are interested, I will introduce my interesting chapters with quotation.   Chapter 3: From 1906 to the Summer of Love      This chapter is about modern San Francisco from 1906. 1906 is an important year for people and history in San Francisco. At 5.12 in the morning on Wednesday 18 April 1906, the earth suddenly began to move in San Francisco. ~The earth did not stop moving for forty-two seconds. It was a very big earthquake – one of the worst earthquakes in the world at that time.      I did not know they have experienced such a disaster. Because of this disaster, the fire continued to burn for four days, and more than three thousand men, women, and children died. When I read this number, I was so surprised. Even more surprising, in the year after the earthquake, San Francisco became a wonderful city again.   C
