Psycho

     Today, I introduce a horror story, “Psycho.” I like watching movie, especially horror movies. The movie with this story as a motif is very famous, and I think many people have seen the package that this woman is screaming. Psycho means that someone who is crazy and frightening. I recommend that you infer who is psycho person while reading.   ‘$40,000 is a lot of money,’ she thought. ‘With this money, Sam will be able to pay his debt. Then we’ll be able to get married.’       It was the cause of this tragedy. Marion and Sam had a marriage promise. However, because of his debt ($11,000), she waited for marriage for a long time. A rich man left $40,000 as a sarcasm for Marion. She was initially trying to give her to her bank, but she decided to embezzle the money because she had a strong desire to get married. Although I understand her feeling, will Sam be happy to pay back his debt with the embezzled money? He is considered to be a serious man who gets married after getting in

THE PIANO

      Today, I introduce a story of man who is loved by music. Its title is ‘THE PIANO’. As you can see from the title, he is good at playing the piano. In this story, you know how does he succeeded as a piano player. I will introduce important scenes with quotation.   Mr. Wood came to the door and spoke to Tony’s mother. ‘Hullo, Betty. It’s nice to see you again. Thank you for your letter. How are you?’ They talked together like old friends.       Although this scene is not important, what I am interested in is expressing ‘hello’ as ‘hullo’. When I read ‘Hullo’ for the first time, I thought it was a printing mistake or a publisher’s mistake. According the Internet, this ‘Hullo’ is mainly used in England, and has same meaning as ‘Hello’. In the same way, ‘Hallo’ is used in Germany and Netherlands. I was interested in the mysterious variation of Hello.     ‘Tony is a boy’s name,’ said Mr. Gordon. ‘Anthony is a man’s name. The Phantom of the Opera

        Today, I introduce sad love story. It is “The Phantom of the Opera”. It is famous story that has been made into a movie or stage. I knew the name and hole story. But I didn’t know last scene and who is the phantom. After reading it, I regret not having read it properly so far. I introduce interesting points with quotation.   ‘I’m going to take you away, and marry you.’       This is in the scene which Christine and Raoul kissed for the first time. It is one of the most romantic scenes in this book, but I was interested in this sentence. I think that this sentence is kind of death flag. Death flag means that he is definitely going to die by saying or doing specific things. For example, ‘If I get back, please get married.’ And when someone cornered by the enemy, he says ‘please help me, I will give you as much money as possible.’ In many stories, character who says these sentences has a high probability of dying. favorite chapter of San Francisco

        This week I talk about my favorite chapter of “San Francisco”. It is chapter 6 ‘The bridge and Alcatraz’. In this chapter, it introduces world-famous tourist attractions, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. You have probably heard that names once. Although I have heard these names, I don’t know what these are. These are wonderful places with more history that I expected.   And fifty years later in 1987, thousands of people went across the bridge again. This time there were 300,000 walkers – some of the older men and women happily remembered their first walk across it in 1937.        When a man thought of a bridge there, many people disagree with him idea. Because the weather is always bad and the sea is dangerous. But later, because of other man, work began on the bridge. It costs 35 million dollars and takes four years. San Francisco

  This week, I read “San Francisco”. This book has ten chapters, and they introduce San Francisco’s weather, history, tourist spot and shops. Although every chapter are interested, I will introduce my interesting chapters with quotation.   Chapter 3: From 1906 to the Summer of Love      This chapter is about modern San Francisco from 1906. 1906 is an important year for people and history in San Francisco. At 5.12 in the morning on Wednesday 18 April 1906, the earth suddenly began to move in San Francisco. ~The earth did not stop moving for forty-two seconds. It was a very big earthquake – one of the worst earthquakes in the world at that time.      I did not know they have experienced such a disaster. Because of this disaster, the fire continued to burn for four days, and more than three thousand men, women, and children died. When I read this number, I was so surprised. Even more surprising, in the year after the earthquake, San Francisco became a wonderful city again.   C

Troll and Other Stories

     I read "Ghost International Troll and Other Stories". This book is consisted from four short stories. I introduce the best story "A New Year's Game" with quotation. She felt that she was waiting for something very important. The future was very close. Soon she would see it.      This story is about a 'scrying' game in England in 1600s. It means trying to see into the future. Only young boys and girls who were not married. The reason why I like this story best is the last scene. When I read these sentences, I mistake this 'important' thing for the future of other people. But it is surprisingly future. If you want to know what it is, you should read  this book.

FRANKENSTEIN(2/2)

     I will introduce last half "FRANKENSTEIN", continuing from last week. I destroyed the body on the table. The monster saw me destroy his future happiness.      The monster asked Frankenstein to make female monster, his wife. But Frankenstein was afraid that new monster cause more tragedy and destroyed his new creation. The monster who hoped to be given love and wanted to spend a happy life with his wife was angry, so he determined to let Frankenstein be the most unhappy man in the world. Let's decide on a date for the wedding. I promise that, in life or in death, I will give myself to her.      Because of the monster, Frankenstein lost his brother and best friend. He was sad and spent quietly.  A beloved Elizabeth, who is as weak as him, said she wanted to get married by letter, and he finally got married.  This sentences is when he decided  this marriage.
